El Salvador is a small and beautiful country, considered the safest in Central America, though it remains relatively unknown. It offers a perfect combination of tropical landscapes, volcanoes, beaches, and more. El Salvador also boasts one of the best surfing beaches in the world. The stunning scenery and friendly people make the experience here truly perfect.
There are several ways to reach the Chabad House in El Salvador:
You can fly directly to San Salvador International Airport, the capital of El Salvador (SAL). There are daily flights from New York, Miami, and Europe.
You can arrive by direct shuttle from Antigua, Guatemala, or Nicaragua. The shuttle stops on the road next to the Chabad House. Shuttle booking is done through Chabad Antigua or independent shuttles.
El Salvador features a hot and humid climate year-round. The average temperature ranges between 25-30 degrees Celsius (77-86 degrees Fahrenheit). The rainy season lasts from May to November, with peak rainfall between September and October. Rain typically falls at night, though there can be entire days without rain or weeks with more frequent showers. While the rain might slightly disrupt travel plans, it creates a uniquely green and blooming landscape and a pleasant tropical atmosphere. It is recommended to dress accordingly and carry light and comfortable clothing.
Local public buses (“chicken buses”) are available at a low cost, but patience and flexibility with the schedule are required.
Note
In local public transportation (“chicken bus”) and vans, fares are usually indicated on the vehicle window. There may be slight additional charges from local drivers for luggage, which is customary and acceptable.
